道德 Tip: Complying With Article 12 on Social Media
There’s been an uptick in anonymous 道德守则 complaints about REALTORS®’ 社交媒体 profiles and online 广告. Article 12 of the 道德守则 requires REALTORS® to ensure their status as professionals is readily apparent in their 广告, 市场营销, 以及其他表现形式, 哪一个 includes 社交媒体. Standard of Practice 12-9 also says REALTORS®’ websites must include their firm name in a readily apparent manner.
Social media profiles and ads are not in violation of the Code if the REALTOR®’s professional status and firm information can be accessed after one click. 例如, a Facebook page or ad is usually compliant if there is a link that, 当点击, takes users to a website with the required information. On 社交媒体 in particular, another way to be in compliance is to include the required information in the platform’s “about me” section of your profile.
But does it (as you have outlined) satisfy TREC Rule §535.155? 太经常了, still I see licensees (not 经纪人) who claim to be a business owner or operator under their own name.
John Doe claims to be the CEO, or some other made up official sounding title of “Doe Realty, 能源部属性, 等., all in violation because it gives the general public the impression that they are responsible for the day to day operations of a brokerage, 哪一个, oh…. in many cases doesn’t even exist…. 根据TREC.
